This is the 7th book in the series. Maggie is in Maine to spend Christmas with Will and Aunt Nettie. She and Will are still working on the hurdles in their relationship; primarily, Maggie wanting to adopt and Will being reluctant to be a father, and their issues with location. Maggie and Will help set up a gathering between Nettie and her women friends. One of her friends is suffering from Alzheimers and says some things at the party that are upsetting. When her caretaker ends up dead, Maggie and Will find that the group has hidden secrets and finds evidence that the caretaker was trying to blackmail them. I thought this book was well written and I have read others in the series. However, I thought the book became "preachy" about a certain subject. At times I felt like I was at a lecture, not reading a mystery. I will not read anymore in this series.
I very much enjoy this series and the blurbs at the beginning of each chapter are very informative. A great series for anyone who enjoys antiques.

Well we are in another mystery........which step by step we read the mystery. By Golly trying to figure out who did it, make me wish I could read faster...........but it went along this story......and slowly I this one did, or that one did it.....but the story went on
and I think it was great with this novel and even a happy evening......You read it as you will enjoy it very much; I promise.....
Maggie Summer goes to Maine to spend Christmas with Will and his Aunt Nettie in this 7th book of Lea Wait's Shadows series. Maggie and Will are still at odds over Maggie wanting to adopt and what their future will be. Meanwhile the caretaker of Aunt Nettie's friend is murdered, there are hints of blackmail, and of course Maggie jumps in with both feet. Intriguing history of Aunt Nettie and her friends is at the heart of the murder and their surprising secret eventually comes out. Good characters, intro to living with Alzheimer's, small town secrets and more. The murderer and blackmailer are revealed, and Maggie and Will come to a resolution. Highly recommended. (Read the rest of the series from the beginning!)
It is always a delight to enter into the lives of Maggie and Will. Full of adventure,fun, and, of course, love, the reader can immerse themselves in a cozy and exciting story. I love the antique theme that is part of Maggie's and Will's story. I would love to visit the antique mall and apartment Will is envisioning for their future. Surely there is another mystery evolving that will involve these two interesting people and enable me to continue my MAINE journey with Maggie,Will and the other characters that incorporate themselves into their lives. if you have not read any of the books, start with the first one and read through them to get to and enjoy, SHADOWS ON A MAINE CHRISTMAS.
I loved this book, as I have the previous 6 books in the series. Wish I could give it 4.5 stars. This one is shorter than most but still great writing from start to finish. If you're new to this series, I highly recommend you go back and start in the beginning before reading this one. The character development over the years has been superb. I'd love to see more of these stories because they're unique and I thoroughly enjoy the characters. Thankfully, I understand that Ms. Wait has additional books in this series planned. Loyal readers to this series, you don't to miss this one.
Lea Wait does it again! Shadows on a Maine Christmas An Antique Print Mystery did not disappoint ... is there anything better than great writing, beloved characters, beautiful settings and a Holiday backdrop? Turns out secrets from the past that threaten the current and future lives of members of a tight knit community can kick things up yet another notch. Ms. Wait does an excellent job walking an emotional tight rope with some challenging themes - while the whole series is not to be missed and I highly recommend that you start back at book one and work your way through in order if you can, sometimes you just need to jump in with both feet and pick up the latest release first. I envy new readers, as you (hopefully) will have enough material to last until the next installment comes out, while the rest of us Maggie Summer faithful have an agonizing wait (no pun intended) ahead of us-Enjoy!
