The Red Room - Original Design

I've been working on a room this week, inspired by some of the red paint colors featured in the September House Beautiful issue.

I love red on walls, however, it can be overpowering at times and you have to have the right fabrics and contrasting colors to balance out its fierceness. We once did an entire room in my husband's old bachelor pad red and it looked amazingly regal and fun because of the ceiling height (over 12 feet!) and the tons of white wood work throughout the room (atypical New Orleans carriage house).

We haven't grown the courage again to do another red room, but I would love to try it out again. What do you think? Next apartment?
